Our desire is to welcome you to First Church of Port Orange in the name of Christ with nothing more than a handshake and a smile.  However our desire would be to welcome you into our community where we can serve you and encourage you to serve others.

The Preaching: At First Church, we unapologetically preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  You will hear the Word of God read and preached each and every Sunday.  You will also grasp the fact that the Word of God is alive and active and applies to the lives of the believers even today (Hebrews 4:12).  See What We Believe for more information. (1 Timothy 4:13)

Worship Times
9:00 AM Traditional Service
11:00 AM Contemporary Service

The Music: We have two services that express and minister with two different styles of music.  The 9am Traditional Service provides hymn singing, choir anthems, and occasional special music by our handbell choir, men’s choir, and quartets. The 11am Contemporary Service hosts a full praise band with guitars, drums, piano, and vocal singers.  You will participate in corporate worship with music from the likes of Chris Tomlin, Hillsong United, David Crowder and more.

The People: When you come to church on Sunday you can expect real people, with issues, seeking real answers.  Any of our greeters can help you receive more information about the ministries in the church. (Romans 3:23)

Our Children: Although children are always welcome in our morning services, should you choose to want to explore the Sunday morning kids ministry, a greeter can direct you to them. We have a Kids Building A, in which the kids in grades K-5 will have a worship service just for them.  We have a little (age 0-4) then the nursery is right next to our sanctuary (Building B). You should also be aware that we have a cry/changing room in the rear of the sanctuary that has a large viewing window to the sanctuary and a sound feed should you need such a facility. (Mark 10:14)

Dress: At First Church we relish the diversity of people and ages and ask that you come dressed comfortably to worship.  You may see suits and ties as well as shorts and t-shirts. Just be who you are. (1 Samuel 16:7)

Money: Although the morning offerings are indeed a blessings from God and are used to fund the ministries of the church, as a new guest, we want you to experience the service without experiencing any obligation to give.  Our tithes and offerings are a spiritual discipline for our regular attenders that call First Church of Port Orange their church home.  During the traditional service a plate is passed if you want to give.  At the contemporary service, we supply 2 offering boxes on the front sides of the sanctuary to give whenever you feel called to do such. Ultimately, we empower all our attenders to seek God’s Spirit when giving and that they are doing so with a cheerful heart. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

Seating: You will find that we have reserved seating for disabled guests and their families.  Look for the blue covered chairs designated for your use.  Other than those chairs, the room is yours.  Feel free to sit up front where you’ll be closer to the action or in the rear to be less seen.  We also have assisted listening devices available for those guests that may be hard of hearing. Please feel free to ask any greeter or usher for assistance.  We’re here to serve you.

The Fellowship:  If you are looking to worship and then mingle, we have opportunities to relax and enjoy some time with your family.  Between services at 10am in the Hanstine Fellowship Hall, join us in a cafe style environment with free coffee, cookies, and pastries.  It’s open to everyone.  Also check out the other Sunday morning opportunities at our Ministry Pages.
